![]() ![]() So I was extremely happy to hear that Random House is bringing back all her books, releasing two to three each season until her whole catalog is out again. Not many survived, since they were mostly paperbacks, and the paper quality wasn’t the best. Her books have been out of print for a couple decades, and have been sought by the kids who read them since them. What happens over the course of that year will change Felina, Lucinda and the Doons forever.Īnd then there’s Ruth Chew, an author I adored when I was in elementary school. But an untamed little witch does not make for a good house guest! Soon the Doons are helping Felina with everything from brushing her hair to learning not to curse…in the spell-casting kind of way. ![]() Lucinda manages to convince the little witch to come in and meet her parents, When Felina tells them that she cannot return to her witch world until the next Halloween, the Doons decide to give her and her cat Ichabody a home. Felina is a little witch who broke her broom on Halloween night, which left her stranded in a tree outside Lucinda Doon’s window. The Little Leftover Witch, by Florence Laughlin is another charming tale, back in print after over 40 years. It’s wonderful that after thirty years, it’s back! Little Witch is consistently one of the top books on the “most in demand” annual list of out of print books. Of course, when friendship leads to testing out her mother’s potions, things get dangerous…fast! Any reader who loves The Rainbow Fairies will enjoy this tale of Minikin Snickasnee, the daughter of a witch who wants only to make some friends. Little Witch, by Anna Elizabeth Bennett was featured as an Old Favorite in this blog way back in our very first year! The book has now come out with a 60th anniversary edition, and it has lost none of it’s charm in all those years. Witches seem to be making a comeback in Children’s books this fall! Two old favorite titles and one author have all come back into print…after a couple decades of only being able to find them by scouring library book sales, family yard sales and used book stores. ![]() Rephrasing what Nobiot said, if you need something more complex than just retrieving the BibTeX metadata and the associated PDF files on a desktop computer, then you probably need to stick to Zotero. I’m currently exploring its functionality and when I find a way to replace its own note management with Org Roam, I will probably switch to it. There is also Ebib - a powerful native Emacs BibTeX manager. It’s rock solid and can do many things, basically everything one needs, but I can’t force myself to use any Java GUI. Windows and Linux users seem to have only one full-featured option that uses BibTeX as the native database backend - JabRef. Exporting from Zotero to BibTeX, and most importantly, re-importing it was too much hassle for me back then. Switching from Zotero to BibDesk was a conscious choice because I wanted to have a single database that I can work with using different tools. It also uses BibTeX as the database format, so integration with Emacs tools that use BibTeX is pretty straightforward - they are all just different interfaces to interact with the same. I personally use BibDesk (MacOS only) to manage bibliography. Org ref provides some custom functions to streamline this as well as to fetch BibTeX from DOI and even PDF files but, similar to Jethro, I found they do not suite my needs and I couldn’t find a quick way to tweak their behaviour. Since Org Ref uses BibTeX as the bibliography management backend, you would inevitably end up editing BibTeX files by hand. And it is also very convenient to open PDFs and URLs from the cite: style links, which I am used just to type manually, by the way. I, however, don’t like too much literal TeX in my Org documents, so for me Org Ref provides a convenient way to have a non-LaTeX-style markup in Org. I use Org mode to write documents that are then exported to LaTeX. ![]() ![]() It just extends Org and BibTeX modes with some (a lot of actually) custom functionality and sort of connects the two. Org-ref is not a bibliorgaphy manager I would say. Org-ref, Org-noter, Org-roam, and Org-roam-bibtex) work nicely together, like this in the crude illustration I have just done below… I see the whole “ecosystem” where Zotero (and its plug-ins), Org-based packages in Emacs (e.g. If you are comparing org-protocol with Zotero/Mendelay, I feel that this comparison may be comparing an apple to an orange (not a valid comparison). I am trying to understand your reasons why you might want that. I would not say “don’t do it” I am assuming you might feel that it was better if you moved away from Zotero/Mendeley to an “org-based soltion” (?) … so, I may be able to contribute a perspective. bib, plus I have just written up an article on how to use PDF-Tools, Org-noter, and Org-roam-bibtex together in Emacs on Windows (Org-ref is also part of the overall guide) Zotero is a central part of it, without explicitly mentioned as such (I just assumed it would be for many of the readers of the guide). Am no academic or student (anymore), but I use Zotero and. ![]() It’s very easy to do, although please don’t consider that you can just download these files and start copying them to DVDs as this won’t work.
